At Frankfurt Airport, Westiform was responsible for all of the external signage as well as for the illuminated signage on the arrivals walkways in Terminal 1.
The most striking element from the outside is the large, illuminated logo and lettering on the glass facade of Terminal 2: With a total length of over 24 meters and a total height of over 12 meters, the signage draws attention to the terminal building from afar.
In addition, Westiform installed the impressive "Fraport" lettering with a length of 11 meters and a height of 5 meters at their head offices and also supplied several "Frankfurt Airport" signs in different areas of the airport. For all the corporate design elements, Westiform used a custom acrylic glass in combination with a special blue film, which in combination with white LEDs, achieves a rich colour both during the day and night.
For the arrivals walkways in Terminal 1, Westiform manufactured and installed illuminated lettering welcoming arrivals to the airport in nine different languages. In addition, 49 individual LED tubes with lengths from 1 to 3 meters and a total length of 96 meters were installed between the lettering. A special feature of this installation is the dynamic colour gradient of the individually addressable LED tubes which are programmed in such a way, that the colour movement mirrors the typical walking speed of passengers. This helps with the passenger flow management.
